Tuesday – the gate to fulfilment

7 Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. 8 All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them. 9 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. – John 10:7-10

Jesus tells us he is the gate that saves, and through this gate we will find pasture. There is this beautiful image of provision here – through this gate, we will find food and rest. We can go chasing other ways to be fulfilled, but we’re told they’re thieves and robbers – they take away. But Jesus gives. He comes to give us salvation, provision, and full life.

Do you find yourself trying to go through other gates to find fulfillment – work, sport, study, success? Spend a few moments thinking about what you give to these activities, and whether or not you find true fulfilment in them. Now spend a few moments reflecting on the fulfilment you can find in Jesus.

Sit and meditate on God – listen to what he wants to say to you through this. Respond to him in prayer. Try asking him to help you find fulfilment in Jesus alone.
