7 Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. 8 All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them. 9 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. – John 10:7-10
What is the way to the full and good life? The world might tell you it’s through the right job, a successful relationship, a comfortable home, a fulfilling hobby. But what happens when all those things are taken away – When you lose your job, or the relationship breaks down, you can’t afford a comfortable home, when a pandemic keeps you from your hobby? Where is the full and good life then?
In the I Am statements we’ve been looking at over the past few weeks, we have seen that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. He is consistent and constant. He is above isolation, unemployment, loneliness, and poverty. When we look for life through Jesus, we find the full life that can’t be taken away from us.
Do you chase a full life through what the world presents to you? What might you need to let go of in order to rely on Jesus as the only one that gives life to the full?
Sit and meditate on God – listen to what he wants to say to you through this. Respond to him in prayer.
