“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes[a] so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.

There are a lot of vines out there that promise to satisfy you and give you the best life but in the end choke and smother you and leave you dead.

Jesus says, “I am the true vine”. This is where we find true life, true satisfaction and true joy. When we are grafted into him, when we believe his Word, we are made clean. We are clean from the guilt and power of sin.

If you believe in Jesus’ death and resurrection and have accepted this free gift of salvation you are made righteous by his blood.  Do not drop your head in shame, do not wallow in self-pity or self-hate; you are not condemned!  Jesus has redeemed us, paid the price for our sins and we are made clean through him. We need to hold on to this truth and hold on to Jesus and remain in him.

Are there any other voices that you are listening to now, that tell you that you are not worthy, that you are not enough or that offer you a better life apart from Jesus? Saturate  yourself in his Word instead, in the truth of the Good News and accept this good news, his gift of grace for your life.
