I have the New City Catechism app on my phone… It asks 52 questions (I for each week of the year) and presents short memorisable answers, with commentary, bible references, and prayer. It’s aim is to ingrain in your heart and mind the truths of our faith.
Question 30 asks “What is faith in Jesus Christ”. The answer given is “Receiving and resting on him alone for salvation as he is offered to us in the gospel”. The commentary from Jonathan Edwards describes faith as “the soul’s entirely embracing the revelation of Jesus Christ as our Saviour”.
Do you rest on Jesus alone for salvation? Does your soul entirely embrace him as your Saviour.
Spend some time today reflecting on what it means to rest on him alone for salvation. Ask yourself what things distract you from relying on him, and ask God to help you come back to him daily.
