8 The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love.
9 He will not always accuse,
nor will he harbor his anger forever;
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve
or repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his love for those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
13 As a father has compassion on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him;
14 for he knows how we are formed,
he remembers that we are dust. – Psalm 103:8 – 14

This Psalm is part of a group that celebrates the abundant goodness and love of the Lord for His people, exhorting the listener to bless the Lord and listing the treasures that we should not forget.
In spite of many provocations, God still wants to bless His people. We are reminded in this Psalm that the creator of the universe knows us intimately, and like a loving father, will have compassion on us.
Today let’s rejoice in being reminded that as we take God’s covenant seriously, he will continue to be merciful and gracious to us. This is a model we can try, with His help, to emulate. As you go about your day today, can I encourage you to be slow to anger and instead try the Christlike approach of sacrificial love. Like the servant in the parable, remember that you have been forgiven much, so you too should forgive.
