Eph. 2:10
10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

What strikes me about this passage is the notion that God has created us – each of us – individually. We aren’t the result of random particles colliding. We are not accidents.
The creator of the universe, out of love, made us in His image to do great things for Him.
Looking back at verses 8 and 9, I think Paul has been inspired to remind the reader that it is God that has created us, saved us, and prepared good works for us. Salvation is not based on works or our meagre efforts. Instead, the good works we as Christians do are the result and consequence of God’s new work in creation.
Let’s again give thanks to God for His mercy in creating us.
Prayer: Lord, we pray that we will be worthy of the good things you call us to do. We pray that we will not shy away from them or get caught up in worldly distractions. We pray for strength to rely on you and, through Jesus and by the power of your Holy Spirit, live lives worthy of your calling.
