Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

We can all identify with Thomas here.  His cry to Jesus amounts to, “I have no idea what you are talking about!” He was confused and troubled.  It is hard to think straight in those circumstances.  Jesus then simply expands on the need to trust him. “I am the way,” means I provide direction for you toward the goal of being with the Lord for eternity. “I am the truth,” means I am the reality you need, and you can trust my every promise. “I am the life,” means I provide you with life for now and forever.  To drive home the point even further, he reminds us that he is the only way we can be reconciled to our heavenly Father.  That is especially significant in our world where we are frequently confused by a myriad of choices on just about every issue.  When it comes to peace with God, Jesus is saying relax, it all comes from me.  Trust me!

Is your heart troubled by all the possibilities and decisions for the day?  Jesus’ message is, take it easy on yourself, trust me and I will guide and teach you.  I will give you true life.
