Matthew 5:16

16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

A little while ago we had the lunar eclipse here in Brisbane. Made me think about the moon and how it doesn’t produce light on its own but reflects the light of the sun. When the earth is positioned directly between the sun and the moon the earth blocks the sun’s direct rays from lighting up the moon. You already see where I’m going with this, don’t you?

We cannot produce light on our own either. But Jesus is the light of the world, and has, for some reason, chosen us to be his vessels to bring his light and presence to this earth. Today spend some time thinking about how Jesus was a light in this world when he was here. He didn’t come to be served but to serve. He didn’t come for the healthy, but for the sick. He showed love and mercy in so many wonderful ways. Just meditate on this for a while, and then think of how you can reflect this light today in a practical way to the people around you.

Sometimes the things of this earth can block the Son’s light from lighting you up for others. Pray that God reveal these things and repent from them.
