1 Peter 1:1-5

1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To God’s elect, exiles scattered throughout the provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia, who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to be obedient to Jesus Christ and sprinkled with his blood: Grace and peace be yours in abundance.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

I grew up in beautiful Cape Town, South Africa, and had planned a life there, never considering anywhere else to live. While I travelled to many wonderful places as far afield as, Europe, UK, USA, Russia, and other parts of Africa, home was always Cape Town with my family (blood and church). Then one day I had a job offer to work in London on the early planning for the 2012 Olympics.  I surprised myself and flew to London within the week to check it out. So, began an adventure of working on three continents – I found that being a Christian automatically means you have family around the world and while you might miss your blood relatives, support and comfort are not far from the arms of Christ.

I also learnt that no matter where you are in the world, by choice or circumstances, it is where you are meant to be, reliant on Jesus’ saving blood, resurrection and the inheritance we have in heaven. You will be able to be a witness to the love of God and spread the gospel.

Acknowledging God’s grace, you may like to pray about contentment for yourself and your loved ones wherever they may be.
