Mark 10:41

41 When the ten heard about this, they became indignant with James and John.

When my daughter asks me “am I your favourite child?” I tell her “you are my most favourite daughter”. Similarly, when my son asks me who my favourite child is, I tell him “you are my most favourite son”. I started doing this early on in an attempt to stave off indignation and sibling rivalry.

I wonder what they would say if I responded with something like “it’s not my favouritism you should be seeking but favour in God’s kingdom. Favour in God’s kingdom requires you to serve others first.”
