Mark 8:22 – 26
22 They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him. 23 He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man’s eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, “Do you see anything?” 24 He looked up and said, “I see people; they look like trees walking around.” 25 Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. 26 Jesus sent him home, saying, “Don’t even go into the village.”
One of the ministries Jesus was well known for during his time on Earth was healing. This passage is one of many amazing healing miracles Jesus performed while here on Earth. We see time and time again that people believed and trusted in Jesus’ ability to heal so that many of them would come from different places to see him. In his love and compassion for people, he healed many people from their sicknesses but there was something much greater that Jesus wanted to heal the people of, sin.
Just like the people who brought the blind man to Jesus were sure in their belief that He could heal the blind man, we need to believe that Jesus heals and saves us from our sin. When we do this, like the blind man, our eyes are opened to who he truly is. Like the blind man, let God lead you and open your eyes so that you might see just how great His love is for you and then in response to this, follow him. Serve him sacrificially, love others as he did and do it all for the glory of His Kingdom.
