Out of the depths I cry to you, Lord;
    Lord, hear my voice.
Let your ears be attentive
    to my cry for mercy.

If you, Lord, kept a record of sins,
    Lord, who could stand?
But with you there is forgiveness,
    so that we can, with reverence, serve you.

Think carefully about these words from Psalm 130.  Consider what may have left you in “the depths” this week.  Call out the Lord for help knowing he will hear.  Ask for mercy with confidence that through Jesus Christ he is merciful and will provide the forgiveness you need.  Be thankful for such mercy and approach him with reverence and a desire to serve your merciful God.

As you join with the people of God in the Sunday service approach with faith in Jesus and expect your merciful God to remind you, through word, song and prayer, of his compassion and love and to stir you to love and serve him in return.
