APWM – 200 Bibles for 100 Villages

Imagine living in a remote African village where life is hard, and you struggle to make ends meet. Imagine that the Bible is available in your mother tongue, but you can’t afford to buy one, even if it were available in your remote location. Imagine trying to preach Sunday by Sunday when few people have a Bible!

That’s the situation in at least 100 remote villages in Malawi. These villages have congregations belonging to APWM’s (Australian Presbyterian World Mission) Partner Church, the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian Blantyre (Malawi) Synod.

In 2023, Rev. John Wilson from Victoria visited APWM’s Partner Church in Malawi. John asked his host to take him to churches in remote villages. It was on one of those visits that John grasped the scale of the need for Bibles in 100 remote villages.

APWM is appealing for donations to enable us to buy 100 Bibles for each of 100 remote villages — i.e., 10,000 Chichewa-language Bibles. We are seeking to raise $180,000 to buy these Bibles and send a small team to visit some of the villages and, together with partners in Malawi, provide tangible training in using the Bible.
