This song is pretty upbeat, but it’s based on Psalm 137, about a real, tragic exile in Judah’s history, the same one covered in the start of Daniel. It’s hard for us to imagine what God’s people must have felt being separated from the land that was promised to them, their lives completely upended and completely removed from their old way of living. What kind of community are you part of, that shape your daily life, and can you imagine being separated from them and being forced to live some other way?
