Good morning. There are several possibilities of where you are currently reading this, but for many of you it will be in one of a few places – tucked up in bed, at the dining table or possibly on a favourite chair. Soon it will be time to get ready for church. Maybe you have a family to get ready, maybe you have to get yourself out of bed, maybe there are a thousand things on your mind that need to be done today. Well let me encourage you to stop. Stop thinking about your list. Stop eating your breakfast. Stop worrying about what the kids are doing. Just for a moment. Take a few minutes to read each line of the Lord’s Prayer below and pray in response to it. It can be a few minutes prayer for each, it can just be a ‘popcorn’ (1 sentence) prayer. Once you’ve finished praying, try not to go straight back to the busyness of life. Try to take moments, wherever you can in your day, to be still and just ‘be’ in God’s presence.
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name
your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
