Reflecting on the talk from Sunday, I couldn’t help but be reminded of the interaction Joseph had when reunited with his brothers who had betrayed him.
“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” – Genesis 50:20
This bears striking resemblance to Christ and His crucifixion. What Satan had meant for a foiling of God’s plan, God meant for the achieving of His ends. What Judas had meant for financial gain, God meant for the salvation of sinners. What the Religious Leaders had meant for a power grab, God meant for the establishment of His Kingdom. What the world had meant for evil, God meant for good.
Here we see God ultimately working in His sovereign plan to bring about the ultimate good – the saving of sinners from their sins. I find this truly comforting. To know that despite all that may be happening in the world or in my life, God is sovereign.
