Today, as we gather as the people of God, we are going to look at Romans 8:31 – 39 as we reflect on the situation of our denomination. In preparation for that, think about the words of Psalm 56:4b, “In God I trust, I will not fear, what will flesh do to me?”
It is a beautiful reminder that we are in the Lord’s hands. He is the one who controls the past and the future, so nothing comes as a surprise to him. Whatever is happening is according to his glorious purposes. The questions of the Psalmist are an expression of confidence from him but a call to those who hear him to join in this trust of God. In difficult circumstances do you simply trust God? Not trust God to make life easy and stress free but rather trust him to be in control even throughout the hard times. We can go further and ask; do you trust him to forgive through Jesus when there has been wrongdoing and ultimately not deal with us according to our sins but according to the perfect merits of Jesus.
Our Lord calls us to humble ourselves before him and trust him.
